The Department of Communication was named champion in this year's Dean's Cup Debate held last March 12 and 20 at the Lecture Rooms 1 and 2 of the SMT Building.
BA COM students Nastasha Tioseco, Veronica Aquino, Arealle Dela Cruz, and Bianca Pabotoy finished the debate series with four consecutive wins from the elimination to the final round, earning back the much-coveted award for the department after eight long years since holding the title.
The final round tackled the theme that spun around ethics and morality with the motion on criminally prosecuting writers, publishers, and individuals who finance the publications that spread fake news. The Department of Communication was on the opposition side of the debate against the International Studies Department on the proposition side.
The Dean's Cup Debate is an annual competition organized by the Miriam College Debate Society, the official debating team of Miriam College, participated in by its various departments.
